| Western kingbird (Tyrannus verticalis)
 The western kingbird is a passerine bird in the tyrant flycatcher family, common throughout the western United States and southern Canada. IdentificationAdultsAdult male and female Western kingbirds are similar in appearance. They are a medium-sized songbird with grey-olive on the upperparts with a grey head and a dark line through the eyes. The underparts are light becoming light orange-yellow on the lower breast and belly. They have a long black tail with white outer feathers. ImmatureImmature birds are similar to the adults, but paler, wings edged with buff and the crown is without orange feathers.
