The Double-barred Finch is a species of estrildid finch found in northern and eastern Australia. It is natable for its 'owl-faced' features, having a white face bordered black.

Identification

Adults

Male and female adults are similar with a white face bordered with black, brown upperparts and throat, and white underparts. The throat and underparts are separated by another black line. The wings are brown and black and spotted white. The tail is black and the bill and legs are blueish-grey.

Immature

Juveniles are duller and browner than the adults with indistinct chest bars.
