The Phainopepla is striking, medium-sized crested songbird of the deserts and arid woodlands of the southwestern United States and Mexico.
Identification
The Phainopepla is a medium-size songbird, slender with a tall wispy crest and a long tail.
Adult Male
The male is shiny black.
Adult Female
The female is gray.
Immature
The immature bird resembles the adult female, but is more brown with brown eyes.
