The greater yellowlegs is a large North American shorebird. Their breeding habitat is bogs and marshes in the boreal forest region of Canada and Alaska. They migrate to the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the United States and south to South America.

Identification

Adults

Adult male and female greater yellowlegs are similar in appearance. They have long, bright yellow legs, long neck and thin, dark bill which has a slight upward curve and is longer in length than the head. White rump and tail.

Immature

Immature birds are similar to adults, but less heavily marked.
