Golden-crowned sparrow (Zonotrichia atricapilla)
The golden-crowned sparrow is an medium-sized American sparrow in the family Emberizidae. It breeds in north-western Canada and Alaska. In the winter they migrate to the southern West coast of Canada and the West Coast of the United States. IdentificationAdultsAdult male and female golden-crowned sparrows are similar in appearance. In the breeding season, adult golden-crowned sparrows have a gold stripe flanked by two black stripes on their crown. At other times of the year the gold and black stripes are dull.
